Dell Inspiron 3520 Laptop touchpad strange issue.

Dear all,

I have bought a new Dell Inspiron 3520, It is working fine but today i have observed a new problem with its touch pad.

The problem is very surprising for me because i have never heard any anyone posting such a issue.

The problem is that when i connect Ethernet port to in its LAN port the touch port start malfunctioning. The cursor does not move at all or moves in pauses, but when i disconnect or remove the connector it again becomes normal.

Here i would like to mention that the problem is not with Internet once the port is connected the internet connection is established and i can use internet as usually.. And if i connect and external mouse ( via usb port) that also works and normal...?

Please help me regarding this issue.. I have installed all the drivers.

Hi,

Welcome to the Community. Have you tried Uninstalling and then Reinstalling the Touchpad drivers? Click on start, right click on computer, click on properties, click on device manager, click on the symbol next to pointing devices, right click on the Dell Touchpad Driver and click on uninstall. Click ok to confirm. Once removed restart your computer, and click on the below link to download and reinstall the touchpad driver.

Hope this helps.

Thank you.

Thanks for the solution . can you please suggest me an other driver than this for the touch pad that could only disable the touch pad when i connect external mouse. Although this software can also disable the touch pad but when i install it again the problem starts. Right now i have just uninstalled the driver and it is working fine... but the problem is i cannot disable the pad.....

Hi,

You can try installing the previous version of the driver, to see if that helps.

Thank you.

Hi,

I'm seeing the same problem when I connect laptop to the adapter. I received just few days back and its really frustrating to see this silly issue of touch disability during laptop charging. Please help me, I have uninstalled and re-installed touchpad drivers from drivers CD. I'm still facing the problem, can someone help me on this ?

I am also having a similar problem to this, except I don't have to plug the ethernet in to have it happen.

At random times my touchpad just stops responding to any touch or will stutter as I try to move the pointer across the screen, like the everybody else has stated.  I have only had the laptop a couple of months and this is getting very frustrating.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers, but the problem persists.

Any help would be great, as I would like to know if this something that I can fix or if I should send it back to have it fixed while it is still under warranty.

updating drivers doesn't change anything. I suspect a static electricity issue (the problem seems to be linked to the things I connect to the computers) but I did not find a way to solve this. Inserting a piece of metal (wire) at the right spot (under the keyboard?) might work.
