Inspiron 1525 touchpad not working
My Dell Inspiron 1525's touchpad no longer works. It worked fine this morning. I updated security essentials and windows and then it stopped working after updates had installed. I tried system restore and it still does not work. I can use a corded USB mouse, but I really need the touchpad.

Hi bick169,
Check the status of touch pad in safe mode (restart the computer and tap F8 on dell logo) .Select Safe mode and try using the touchpad.
Follow below steps to Uninstall and reinstall the drivers:
If the touchpad shows the same behavior in safe mode, try updating the Touchpad Driver from the below mentioned link:

I do not see Synaptic touchpad listed under mice and other pointing devices.

Update: the touchpad will occasionally work, but it is very laggy.

Hi bick169,
This is probably a software issue.
Check if the touchpad works in safe mode.
Restart the computer and tap F8 on Dell logo .Select Safe mode and try using the touchpad.
Also, try boot to the Last Known-Good Configuration
If the issue persists, use System Restore to Revert to a Previous State:
