Can not set up wireless connection from Dell V525w to Macbook Pro?

Thanks for the response. I tried to advise the link and it did not work out at all. Do you know where I can download Wireless Setup Assistant for Dell V520 Series. My printer is Dell V525w. I also tried to connect via IP but unable to verify the printer. The wireless signal in the printer continued to blinking instantly.

Not sure how this works on a Mac...

When you installed the drivers that DELL-Nikhil D provided...

Were you given the choice to start a new installation, then asked network? On a Windows system, it asks if new installation or additional computer. In your case, you want to choose new installation, network then follow the instructions. It should ask to find your network and password. That is how the printer gets connected to your network.

WiFi light should be green, when finished.

How about this?  Just explain how to manually get a v525w on a typical

802.11b/g/n WiFi network independent of the computer?  I'm no newbie, but

I'm stumped that I can't even get an indication of what SSID's the printer

can detect, select one, and enter a password (if required).  That's really

basic.  Then we'll deal with drivers on computers.  Can we do that?

As for the Mac, the set up s/w dumps you out on the Dell website for a wild

goose chase for the wireless configuration software.  Useless.  Why isn't

this included?

I tried going the USB route as well, but the Continue button in the set up

s/w will not activate presumably because the Mac cannot recognize the v525w

device.  It won't work directly via System Preferences either.  Yes, the

printer was on and not in sleep mode.

What I've observed from various Forum responses is that:

  - v525w installation problems are widespread,

  - there is no training for Dell Forum responders on Mac support,

  - the set up software is clearly unable to complete a set up sequence on

  a Mac, and

  - we're now flailing with broken links to down rev OSX 10.7 drivers for

  a Lexmark(!) instead of current 10.8 drivers for the actual v525w that I

  bought that actually work.

I'm happy to give this another final try, but please escalate this and

provide a tested solution that works.  Or, replace it with an upgrade to a

model that actually works as advertised.

I've bought loads of Dells for my home and business with happy results, but

this is the most half-baked set up process I've seen.  Can you please restore my

faith?

We have some Dell Employees here but many of the regulars are Dell Users, just like you.

I have a Dell V715w Wireless Printer, working with all versions of Windows. It does NOT have air print capability.

I use these Recommended Wireless Router Settings I use channel 11. I usually recommend makeing a new SSID to make connecting easier. The printer adapter can connect on 2.4GHz, same as your printer.

For drivers for your printer, you can try the printer disk, DELL'S WEBSITE or try http://ftp.dell.com/Pages/Drivers/dell-v525w-inkjet-printer.html

Your Dell Printer was made for Dell by Lexmark, so if the drivers from Dell's website does not work, if you find a similar printer at Lexmark's website, the drivers may or may not work. As members found drivers, I kepts notes and added my findings to THIS THREAD with other helpful notes. I have heard fro other Mac users that the Lion drivers work for Mountain Lion.

I don't have any knowledge on Mac's, I'm more of a Windows person, so I'm not sure about the installation procedure.

Virus programs(if you're using any) and firewalls will block communications.

Getting ready for a long night, snow, then work, so I will not be online until tomorrow night. I hope you'll be able to find the drivers you need for installation. If not, post back and I'll see if I can find anything.

Well, I got it sorted out by digging up a Windows laptop and using the disk, which will install the wireless configuration s/w on a Windows machine only.  My Macs can now see it and print.  Thanks for explaining that it's a Lexmark engine inside - I thought it was an Epson.

You said you dug  out  a windows laptop, and used a disk? Can you further explain what you did  to a dummy granny . . I got a MacPro before Christmas, and have been trying to connect my dell printer V515w to it, and I too, can get it with a USB cable but not wireless. I have looked everywhere, Downloaded drivers, nothing works! But it seemed like you odid. So, what do I do, install the disk I got with my printer to my Dell laptop,-or to my Macpro ( there is no installed drive on it, but I have one that connects to it, so I can download cd's etc)  so,, then, -How does my Mac see it to print it?

I am so frustrated, with Dell  and Mac too,  for not being able to simply explain it-- so many say it can't be done, but then I read success stories like yours.. This old granny would just like it to be explained simply, I am not new to computers, and when told to do something , I will find a way. Will appreciate anything to can help me to get the printer via wireless.
