Dell XPS 12 and HDMI via displayport not working

Hi,

I have a HDMI cable and a Displayport 2 HDMI adapter (purchaced with the XPS 12) which works fine with another Dell laptop, but not with my new XPS 12.

There is no signal at all. When I select "Duplicate" screening, the resolution is changed on the XPS 12 to what looks like 4:3. If I select "Projector only", it falls back to "Duplicate" after a short time with a message indicating no-success (cannot recall the message). I have tried the setup on a Samsung TV and a brand new projector. As mentioned, the cable pair works fine with another older Dell laptop.

Have anyone else experienced this problem?

Any input is highly appreciated.

Here is an update to this long and curious story. The CableToGo HDMI Adapter only worked once on the machine. However, I tested the adapter on two other laptops and it worked without a hitch. Assuming that it was driver related, we did a full reset on the machine without success. An engineer came today with a new motherboard and an adapter. The new adapter worked.

Conclusion: My Dell XPS 12 did not like the CableToGo displayport-HDMI adapter. It is hard to say if the adapter was faulty (It worked on other laptops) or if it is a general incompatibility problem. The fact that it worked once after reinstalling the driver was just serious bad luck.

Called tech support on Friday and they sent out an engineer to replace the mother board on Monday. Got a new motherboard, but that did not resolve the problem.

I double checked that I had the latest driver according to Intel driver update utility.

Solution: From device manager, uninstall the driver for the display adapter and reboot. Upon restart, Windows will try to find the driver online. Result – I got a newer driver and that works. Interestingly a newer driver that is not available from Intel.

I have experienced the same problem as Havardo.

It seemed as though the latest update stopped the displayport from working properly. It was working fine. Restarted PC, and when it rebooted its like it doesnt even recognize that the display port adapter is there.

I have spent the last 3 hours trying to fix it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled drivers. I have tried system restores to various previous points. I have tried to manually install drivers. Nothing is working. This is the main reason i bought my computer and now it isnt working for what i need!

PLEASE HELP ASAP!!!! Im desperate!!!
