Dell XPS 12 jagged / shaky writing on touch screen

I am on my second XPS 12 convertible laptop.  I really like everything about it except for a horribly inaccurate touch screen: writing in any app yields incredibly shaky / jagged lines with frequent missed strokes.

I have a Yoga 13 ($200 cheaper) that works PERFECTLY.  Smooth lines, very few missed strokes, accurate even with small letters (I've used the Bamboo stylus and many others on both systems with the same results).

I've had the same results with both XPS's I"ve had and after 5 sessions with tech support, I've gotten nowhere.

Tech support has:

  • had me reinstall windows
  • update the bios and all of the latest drivers on Dell's site
  • they even tried installing a Wacom driver from HP (I have no idea why), which seemed to help a small amount, but then killed auto-rotate and keyboard pop-up in tablet mode
Any thoughts?
Did I get really unlucky with two bad computers or is this just a fatal flaw with the XPS 12 (that no one seems to have mentioned in any review I can find!)?
Thanks.

Hi, I have the same problem, so I would rather enjoy to here more about solutions. I thought it might be a problem of my stylus which I directly bought with the computer Dell XPS 12 but this didn't help. Very ugly unprecise writing unblievable for such an expensive computer.

So I'm also looking for any idea?

Thanks..

I had no luck.  I ended up returning it, even though I loved it otherwise.  The yoga 13 is working pretty well.

Few weeks ago, I tried out an XPS 12 in Best Buy and had the exact same results. Not sure how Dell could be shipping all (or most?) of its units with touch screens that are unusable for writing.  If anyone tries to tell you it's a stylus, they're crazy:  your finger or a 99 cent stylus works quite well on any newer iPad for writing (and very well on the Yoga) but even a $30 stylus is unusable on this Dell unit.
