Black screen after sleep mode and screen off (in power safer mode)
Hi,
a lot of my friends have this problem. It doesn't matter what type of card they have. My problem is more difficult. When the screen turns off it happens quite often that it doesn't turn back but otherwise the pc (windows) is in working ("blindly" i deleted my icons from the desktop) If i press the power button than for instance the screen comes back and than the computer turn off. I operated with the power setting and i found a newer driver for my intel 4000 vga and new dell '06 bios, but the problem come back always. (+I tried on windows 7; always is ok!)
Dell inspirion 3521-intel hd 4000-core i3
My power plan (when plugged in):
Dim display: 2 min
Turn off the display: 3 min
Put the computer to sleep: never (on battery 1 hour)

I dont think it's your touchpad specifically. It will go out whenever the i/o is interacted with. It will probably go out even if you plug your cell phone. Since removing Mcaffee I havent had any problems.

Hi,
I checked the advanced settings and the usb settings were different. I set them up according to your instructions. Now i will be testing it (on battery - sleep mode & when plugged in - turn off the display), because the problem has occured randomly. I will let you now. I contacted also microsoft, because it is possible that a bug causes the problem.
Thank you for your help and kind regards,

Hi,
i completed the test, but without any result. I have "good news", yesterday i installed the new intel vga driver and today i coludn't get into the windows. This time the screen was not black as before but it was flashing. I sometimes could see the cursor but i couldn't do anything. In safe mode i removed the official intel vga driver and after this i could get into the windows. So i'm using the microsoft driver and now i will test, how does it work.
Thank you for your help and kind regards!

Hi Gergely Kocsis,
If the steps do not help, let’s try to uninstall and reinstall both the video card drivers.
Please follow the below mentioned steps to uninstall both the video card drivers:
After the system restarts please run Windows updates.
Check the functionality of the computer and reply.

I was having this same problem and searched all over the internet for a solution to no avail...HOWEVER, I believe I have SOLVED this problem on my own. It is not the monitor, it is not a short, it is not the power settings....
The problem is actually Mcafee. After uninstalling it completely (and replacing it with Norton which is what my other home machines use), the monitor problem ceased to exist.
I'm a happy camper...please...someone let me know if this works for them.

Hi!
I tested the system (all drivers & programs) last month. I always restored the system to factory default system (windows 8). The dell toucpad driver makes the problem. Test (I made the power plan):
- Dim display: 1 min
- Turn off the display: 2 min
- Put the computer to sleep: never (on battery 1 hour)
It was very interesting, that when i scrolled on the touchpad on the internet, the screen started to dim and when i touched other place on the touchpad the screen came back to full brightness. I removed the toucpad driver and the problem has been resolved but I can't use the scrolling with windows driver. I'm waiting for the resolution.
Thanks and Regards,
Gergely Kocsis

Hi!
Yes, it's true and thank you very much for your helping. - Unfortunately the problem came back with my method. I have just a problem; I bought a new computer with a bad/paid antivirus software :emotion-11: (I use avast free edition and I haven't had any problems).
Thanks and Regards,

Hi!
I had the same problem. Deleting McAffee also solved my problem. It also eliminated another problem I had. I wasn't able to use the function keys (F1, F2, ...) in some installed programs, because it seemed like the Windows shortcuts (like speaker volume, luminosity, etc) had priority. Now I'm able to use these function keys again in my programs! Dell team, please investigate this problem and communicate the information to McAffee if you want to continue to install this antivirus on your PCs. It will save other users lots of frustration and have everyone waste less time. :)

Hi!
I found this forum haveing the same problem. I bought a DELL Inspiron 15 7000 this summer and I faced with this black screen problem one week ago. I'm satisfied with the McAfee so I would not like to remove it. Does the Dell Comopany have any other suggestion/solution to solve this problem?
