Drivers update

So, via Dell support center, I've visited their page with drivers only for my laptop. I've downloaded and installed few drivers (newer versions), and now, for my video driver at the support center there are no informations what drivers are installed nor their version - it looks like they are uninstalled?

I was hoping that when I visit their website for drivers with my laptop tag in the url, they will remove drivers I've currently installed as it uses Dell System Detect, but it doesn't - so, driver for my video card is still there - that means I didn't installed newer version but removed the old one?

I've installed new version automatically, when downloading I've check download & install, not download & save.

Hi Zanetti,

When you visit the support website to download any drivers, the previous drivers will not get uninstalled unless you uninstall them manually. The new version will get installed on the older version; it is more like an update.

It is not always necessary to download and save the drivers and then install. It is ok to download and install the drivers directly on the system.

I would like to know the reason you want to install the latest drivers. Let me know the issue you are facing with the system, I will be glad to assist you. Also provide the model of the computer and the operating system for further assistance.

Hello Sujatha,

Model - Vostro 3560

Operating system - Windows 8

There is no reason for updating drivers, I just wanted to have them up to date.

My questions are:

1)  Why doesn't DELL support website for my computer tag delete drivers which I've downloaded and installed?

2) I've updated drivers for video card AMD Radeon, and now on support center there are no details about those drivers (version like they were before an update):

Hi Zanetti,

Dell support website will not delete any drivers which is applicable to your computer even if you have downloaded. In case you have to install the drivers once again for some reason you can always visit the support website to download the same.

With regards to the driver history, when you download the latest version, the system will only update the driver with the latest version. As it is a update, it will not give the history of the older version

Hello Sujatha,

Of course dell won't delete those drivers, but hide, there is a program Dell System Detect who should only show drivers which are not installed currently.

Regarding driver's history, why it doesn't show current, new driver's version?

Hi Zanetti,

I am sorry the option to hide is not available.  I will keep my engineering team informed about this.

With regards to the version of driver, in the Device manager window, right click on any given driver and click properties. In the properties window, navigate to driver and you will get know the version of the driver in this tab.

You may compare this version with the version available in the support website.
