Dell Inspiron N5110 touchpad problem when charging

Hi,

I have been using my dell inspiron for about a year and half and it worked fine. But one day i plugged my charger for charging laptop and mouse goes mad... it starts moving to and fro of its own without me touching it.i googled the problem but did not found any helpful material. i installed the ALPS driver and the only help i get is i turn of my touchpad when charging and use a usb mouse instead.
Anyone please help.

thanx.

Asad.

Dear Asad,

I had same issue when i degraded my Dell Inspiron N5050 from DELL Ultimate OEM Win 7 to Dell OEM Home Basic Win 7 today morning..

I ve gone crazy coz of the erratic nature of my mousepad..and i have searched so many forums and found some having same issues..

but my search for the solution was in vain..

Please remove any other chargers of phones or tablets like samsung, blackberry, or iphone,  which is connected in the same wall socket using adaptors or another socket  in the same room.

it will be fine..if it still doesnt work call an electrician and check your Earth line in the main power supply line.

Regards

Jake...

Hi Asad,

I recommend checking in safe mode (restart the computer and tap F8 on Dell logo and select safe mode). Check if the touch pad works.

If the issue still persists run diagnostics on the computer (Turn off the computer and then hold down the FN key and the power button, the computer would restart and start running diagnostics).

Also try installing Touch freeze .This Utility disables touchpad automatically while you are typing text.

Install the touch freeze drivers from the below link:

http://bit.ly/12PbuR

From the above link, click on Downloads sections, save the file and run the file.

Note :It is a third party website the website could have its own terms and conditions and there could not be any guarantee for the drivers; however try installing it if necessary.

Awaiting your response!

Thanks rajesh for your concern...

I tried everything you told me to do but the problem is still there.

Even when the diagnostic test was completed my mouse waas out of control. I hardly managed to get out and select exit button.

My diagnostic showed every thing is correct and there is NO problem and in safe mode the problem is happening too.

what should i do now?

thanx in advance.

Hi Asad,

Check with a different wall outlet. Connect the computer to a different wall jack and see if the same issue persists.

Also, remove the adapter and check if same happens on battery.

Kindly private message the order number so that I can check for the details.

I have added you as a friend. Please accept my friend request by clicking on my name highlighted in blue and then click on “Friends” tab at the top and then click on “Request to Review” and finally click on “Accept” button.

I am sending you a private message as well. Click on “Inbox” to respond to the message and provide system’s Service Tag and contact details so I may access your system records and check for further course of action. You could also click on Start Conversation to send a private message.

Awaiting your response!

Hi rajesh,

Yes the problem persists even with other wall sockets in home.

No, the problem is only when charging the laptop, if i remove battery it works perfectly fine.

I would have send you my service tag number but unfortunately you have not accepted my friend request yet...

Thanx

Asad.

Hello,

I have the absolute same issue as Asadmujtaba.

It is not a OS issue, because I have tested it with both Windows and Linux and the result is the same - when the charger is connected, the touchpad does not work properly if at all. When on battery, however, everything is fine.

This happens when I connect the charger to different power outlets, too.

I am convinced that this is a hardware fault, but I would appreciate ani information about this that  you can give me, based on your private communication with Asadmujtaba.

BR,

Zhivko

Hi,

I have the same problem, and here's the solution I found.

With my charger and battery connected - touchpad goes crazy

With my charger and no battery - touchpad goes crazy

With my charger on a friend's Dell computer (same watts, volts and amps) - his touchpad goes crazy

With friend's Dell charger (same watts, volts and amps) - my touchpad is good

Problem: The charger is faulty

Solution: Get a new one. If your computer is still on warranty, just change it. If it's not on warranty, buy a new one. (you can always take your computer to the store and try it there before buying :)

LANGELI.. TRY THIS

MY COMPUTER RIGHT CLICK- PROPERTIES - DEVICE MANAGER

DROP DOWN MICE & OTHER POINTING DEVICE.

YOU WILL SEE YOUR MOUSE DRIVER (NORMALLY ALPS) RIGHT CLICK ON IT AND UNINSTALL

THEN TICK DELETE

RESTART COMPUTER, IT MUST BE DONE

ELSE TRY THIS

CONTROL PANNEL -  MOUSE - MOUSE PROPERTIES - ADJUST CLICK SPEED

THEN GO TO POINTER OPTION -  DRAG POINTER SPEED A BIT MORE FASTER

TICK - HIDE POINTER WHILE TYPING.. U R DONE...

IF ITS NOT DONE, PLS SPEAK TO DELL AND GET THE MOUSE PAD REPLACED

I HAVE SEEN MOUSE PAD GOING ERRATIC WHEN AUDIO OUT IS CONNECTED TO HOME THEATRE OR SOMETIMES  USB SPEAKERS CONNECTED,

ALSO TRY REMOVING ANY KIND OF  CABLE / PIN INSERTS IN THE LAPTOP THROUGH USB'S, AUDIO OUTS..

NO PROPER GROUNDING FOR AC ADAPTER ALSO CAN CAUSE MOUSE TO BEHAVE ABNORMAL, DONT KNOW THE ACTUAL  TECHNICAL EXPLANATION FOR THAT

ALL THE BEST

Hi JOYFULDAD

Your solution just performed the miracle for me.

Your solution "COMPUTER RIGHT CLICK- PROPERTIES - DEVICE MANAGER

DROP DOWN MICE & OTHER POINTING DEVICE.

YOU WILL SEE YOUR MOUSE DRIVER (NORMALLY ALPS) RIGHT CLICK ON IT AND UNINSTALL

THEN TICK DELETE, RESTART COMPUTER"

Just performed the miracle for me. I can use my dell touchpad again after several months of being forced to use a mouse due to a non-functional touchpad.

Thanks a lot!!!

Thankyou Jake.

The problem is solved.

Actually there is a problem with Ac Adapter by Dell. If your wall socket is not "A Power socket" the problem might exist. I changed my normal wall socket to power one and it works,
