Windows 8 and Dell 966 all in one photo printer

I have just purchased a Dell 660 with windows 8 and already have a perfectly good Dell 966 all in one photo printer. The question is can they be used together, is there a driver that will work with windows 8 or do I have to purchase yet another printer? If so is there a printer you can recommend for my windows 8 computer and also my iPad? Any help would be appreciated.

Win 8 will install a basic driver for the printer, but apparently it doesn't work. Check this post and search for others on the Web and the Dell site: en.community.dell.com/.../20252722.aspx

Euphorbia,

In addition to what KirkD posted...

The other members got it working using the Vista drivers in the Compatibility mode

Your second question, a printer that will work with your iPad...

Dell has two inkjet printers that are supposed to have airprint capabilities. They are the Dell V525w ans the Dell V725w Printers. You need to do more research on this before replecing the printer.

Hi mchu1,

AIO 966 printer is not compatible with Windows 8 OS.

Please check Microsoft Windows 8 Compatibility with Dell Printers.

Check and reply for further help.

I also have the same issue with a good working dell 966 all in one printer. I can scan but not print-Dell support just confirmed it is a windows compatibility issue, they only support one upward compatible upgrade, which is absurd since the printer is working fine. I also told support I can scan but not print, and was told this is not a consistent feature that will work due to the incompatibilities. unbelievable that they won't support upward compatibility and just hope we can buy another dell printer.

Did you end up finding a resolution to use the 966 all in one wireless printer with windows 8?  If I can't use this, the last thing I will do is buy another Dell if they aren't going to provide support.  I'm getting disgusted. Any help is appreciated.
