T310 / Using a HDD as C Boot That is Not Part of Raid HDD's

Hello -

I can't find good direction anywhere.

I have T310 with Raid (Space for 4 HDDs), and usiong Windows Server R2. I want to add a 5th drive/source that will be the boot and house the full OS system. And use the Raid ans 2 sets of Mirrored Raid 1 (Sata WD-Black 4x 2TB Drives).

My ideas (in order of preference):

1-Use one of the Sata connectsor on the botherboard, but I can't figure out how to enable them while keeping raid

2-  Use the USB Internal and hook to a HDD or larger USB Drive (I'll need to sumhow install windows on euither deivice).

3-Add an 2nd Part Sata HDD controller card to a PCIe slot, and us that to control boot sequenst.

HELP!

Hello serverst

What RAID controller are you currently using? I'm assuming that you have a hot plug backplane, but can you verify whether your current drives are hot plug or cabled to the system board.

In the system BIOS what are the SATA Settings configured to? Also, what is the boot mode set to? Do you a tape backup unit or any other internal devices besides HDDs or the DVD drive?

Thanks

Raid is whjat comes with the T310 Perc H200/A. Current drives are hot-plugs yes. The Bio's is a good point, which gets me to the 'System Setup Bios" screen to check Sata settings.
