New Dell Laptop: Your PC ran into problem and needs to restart.

i have bought this new Dell Laptop a month ago. with Preinstalled Windows 8,  and Licenced 'MSOFFICE Home and Student'.

used it only for preparing some presentations and general Media Viewing.

but suddenly it has got a problem. last time i tried to start it but it says "Your PC ran into problem and needs to restart" then it goes to Preparing System Recovery and it loops into it again and again. i hav waited all night long but its only looping into it. no moving further.

What should i do to boot it..

i didnt get Windows 8 bootable Disk or anything with it.

Hi corposerve,

Were any hardware or software changes made?

Did you run diagnostics on the computer?

Try thr following steps which can resolve the issue:

Method 1:

  • Go to Start menu
  • All Apps
  • Search for Command Prompt.
  • Run command prompt as an Administrator.
  • Type SFC /SCANNOW.

If the Problem persists, then try the other method

Method 2:

  • Go to Computer Properties
  • Advance system properties.

  • Click on Advance Tab.
  • Click on Start up and Recovery “Settings”
  • Now you all can see a portion of dialogue box saying “System Failure”
  • Uncheck “Automatically Restart”
  • In “Write Debugging information” Select “Complete Memory Dump” from the drop down menu.
  • And Click on Apply and Ok It may say you all to restart.
  • Restart your Pc.

Refer the following video to run diagnostics:

If the issue persists, try system restore:

If you donot have any important data, refer the following link to do a factory reset:

Dear Rajesh,

I didnt make any software or hardware changes. but it might be virus affected as i hav used many Pen Drives trusting preinstalled antivirus.

Thanks for solutions you suggested. but my problem is  "it is not booting at all". as soon as it starts it shows only 3 steps.

1) Dell Logo,

2) "Your PC Ran into problem needs to restart. ......................................"

3) Preparing System Repair ( not exactly dis but somthing like dis"

and it goes back to step 1.

Anyway.. right now i m in office. LAPTOP is personal.. i m not allowed to carry personal IT Device in office..

Still i will check it today evening and revert back to you.

I checked it last evening. its not booting.

Now, my question is. How do i go to BIOS? How do i boot it from Windows 8 bootable Disk? and if Dell claims Authentic Windows 8 is offered with Dell Laptop. where would i get Windows 8. licence code and its Installation disk..

i know it is OS related issue. and i should seek solution from Microsoft. but i am not given any OS related Keys or product codes.

Please do the needful.

Press F12 at powerup or hold the D key and boot to the Dell diagnostics - run an extended hard drive test.
