E2414H Black screen NOT black enough

When not using the computer Vostro 220, it should go black. It does, to a degree, but I have an Acer 23" right beside it on a Dimension 2400 which does go totally dark. The E2414H still emits a black/gray when room lights are off. Is this inherent, or can I opt differently in the settings. I have downloaded the latest driver, which I think is the ONLY driver. Also it seems that Dell hides anyway of asking their tech support about this directly. Thanks, in advance.

Bob,

You cannot compare the acer monitor to our monitor. Different panels. Test the E2414H on both the Vostro and the Dimension 2400 and compare the black. We are not hiding anything? The manuals are here. The drivers are here.

OK, thanks for the reply.

btw, what I meant by "hiding" was the inability to contact a human for help.... otherwise I wouldn't have to be doing all this that follows.....

The first thing I did (had already done) was to swap monitors between the two computers.  There was a slight improvement on the black level on the 2414HT when coupled with the 2400 tower.  Enough to make me want to download the manual for the E2414H.  After downloading  that, the first thing I notice is that on the cover page my model (2414HT) is a regulatory model which means NOTHING to me as a lay person.. Is it cheaper, better, or have I retrieved the wrong manual??? Then I went to the contents page looking for something that might apply to my problem, i.e. not enough blackness on timeout.  So Power Management modes seemed a likely suspect (p.14).  I click on that line and it takes me to page 12.  But neither that page or  13, or 14 have anything to do with power management.  I was hoping for something like an auto-power off .

I then went to the webpage that offered (with my OK) to analyze my computer (I.D. tag or whatever it is called) and after TWO tries  it apologized for not being able to analyze my config, etc.  (I am running a reasonable connection, about 13 MBS)

So I went another route, I went to download drivers.... Monitors... my model.   Then it asked me to narrow the options..  none of which was Windows 7, 64 bit.  So, I am unsure if I can do anything more, or just decide that my Dell monitor is incapable, and that I have chosen the wrong family to be associated with.... I have the Vostra, 2 Dell 2400's and a Dell laptop.

Humans are better than this .

Sincerely,
