iDRAC7 virtual console (Java) connection failed - PowerEdge R620
I'm trying to run the iDRAC7 virtual Console java applet.
After clicking thru several popups, it croaks "Connecting to virtual console server.... CONNECTION FAILED".
How to resolve this?
- The machine is PowerEdge R620 with fully licensed iDRAC (connected thru a shared LAN port).
- iDRAC Firmware version 1.40.40 (build 17) , Lifecycle Controller Firmware 1.1.1.18
- Host OS: Win7 x64, Firefox 27.0.1,
- Java 1.7.0_51, security level set to minimum, internet connection set to DIRECT.
- iDRAC virtual console settings: plugin type=java, port 5900
- ActiveX plugin on 32-bit Windows XP with IE 8 works almost well (IE11 on Win7 is useless because of certificate issue).
Do I need a firmware update? Java applet update?
Thanks in advance

DDDBug,
The iDrac and the LC are behind on updates. I would start by getting them current. I have provided links for the 2 updates. To clarify, when you switched from java to Native it is working, or is not?
LC 1.3.1 - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-r620?driverId=TNJFT&osCode=WS8R2&fileId=3341214911&languageCode=en&categoryId=SV#
iDrac7 1.51.51 - http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19/DriverDetails/Product/poweredge-r620?driverId=JGG1X&osCode=WS8R2&fileId=3334005292&languageCode=en&categoryId=ES#
Let me know how it goes.

Thank you Cris H,
The iDRAC update 1.51.51 helped, now the Java applet seems to work.
Also, I've gotten IE11 to work: The secret bit was to add the server URL to Compatibility view sites. Then it allowed to install the ActiveX and run it, despite of certificate errors ( our IT unfortunately is unable to provide a good standard cerificate for my server).
But I am not sure about the Lifecycle controller update: do I need it at all?
thanks,
dd

Did you also update the Lifecycle controller as well? You may want to take the time to update the entire server, including the CMC. Are you connecting via Java or Active on the virtual console?

Dear Chris,
Thank you for link. I was able to upgrade it the IDRAC host from 1.45.46 to 1.51.51. But after that I am not able to login to particular host that was upgraded. I am able to type login and password and the browser shows that I was able to login succesfully. It works 2 secs and again login page appears.
I rebooted the IDRAC from CMC module, restarted the localhost, tried different browsers.
Not worked.
Do you have any idea? Might be you now the reason that causes my problems?
Thank you in advance.

Hi,
I have myself an issue to connect the iDRAC on a server; There is a popup "Unable to download... 53b0cde.....) from . unable to open this Internet site...
I do this from an Admin server not connected to Internet. if I do the same in the Active mode, it works fine.
The Idrac level is up-to-date : 1.57.57 and the Lifecycle controller level is 1.3.1.13.
Do you know how to fix this issue?
Thanks in advance for your help.

Can I run the iDrac and LC updates on the live environment or would it need a restart of the server?
