Games not working on Dell Inspiron 15 3537 laptop

In my Dell Inspiron 15 3537 laptop with windows 8.1 operating system I am unable to play any games like NFS most wanted / Prince of Persia two thrones . Though these games require a much less hardware configuration than I have on my laptop. Previously for few days on clicking 'AMD Catalyst Control Center' I was getting the following error message " AMD Catalyst Control Center cannot be started. There are currently no settings that can be configured using AMD Catalyst Control Center". I had recently downloaded and Installed Video_Intel_W84_A01_Setup-Y3FHH_ZPE driver for AMD video card after which this message was returned. But after reinstallation I did not find this problem . Now when I try to play games like NFS most wanted / Prince of Persia two thrones graphics gets hanged and graphics is loading very slowly . Currently I have Intel Graphics driver : Video_Intel_W84_A01_Setup-Y3FHH_ZPE ,AMD graphics driver : Video_AMD_W8.14_X01_A00_Setup-C50TD_ZPE and BIOS version A06 installed. Another strange thing that I find is that on navigating to My Dell>>Video I find no Run Test link against Video card - AMD Radeon HD 8670M which was previously available. Run Test link is available against Video Card - Intel(R) HD Graphics Family and the test is successful. Please suggest whether it is any driver issue or hardware issue and how to solve the same. Thanks Supriyo..

I have had the same problem and the problem here is that the 2 graphic cards are creating conflicts.

Here is what i have found as a temporary solution:

you can disable either of the graphic cards (device_manager>display adapter>choose one among the 2>right click and disable), after doing the above i was able to at least play counter strike (i was not able find major difference between the gaming qualities between these graphic card though)

Dell technical support team have to look into this problem soon, it is destroying a great spec of this laptop

let me know if you find out some other solution that does not require disabling the graphics card

I had the same problem and dell's technical support team adviced me to switch back to windows 8 three months ago.  Now, I saw a new BIOS update (version A07) on Dell website. I condacted Dell's team again to ask if this update solves the problem but they are not 100% sure.

Has anyone here tried this version to configure that graphics work properly now?

I'm running Windows 8.1 with BIOS A08 (released around 24 Jul 2014) and this is still an issue (one amongst thousand of others).

Having both "safe and globally tested"  drivers from the Dell Support's page:

- Video_Driver_Y3FHH_WN_10.18.10.3308_A01.EXE for Intel,

- Video_AMD_W8.14_X01_A00_Setup-6GGGM_ZPE.exe for Radeon 8850

I'm very disappointed with DELL's product (mainly OS and drivers - but it is a product as a whole).

I found the solution...

Uninstall the graphics driver downloaded from dell support page.  Download graphics driver from AMD site and install. This will solve the problem. The grphics driver present in dell site is corrupted

No, sorry, this ain't a solution, just a work-around.

I've used 14-4-mobility-win7-win8-win8.1-64-dd-ccc-whql

Those bring back the normal performance to games but are introducing at least three other issues:

1. Windows Script Host Error at every fresh startup of the Windows

2. Closed lid / Sleep issue - also widely discussed here at the forum - when you close the laptop's lid or OS goes to sleep after some idle time you won't be able to wake it up. Hard reset is the only solution. It's very unhealthy for hdd

3. Some games crashed or just closed themselves after some time of playing, refreshed blue screen also appeared twice

I'm now testing newest drivers for HD 8800 Family that came from Windows Update just yesterday or so.

For now they seem to be more stable than original AMD drivers.

If you use system sleep and wake up functionality often then Use official Dell drivers (http://www.dell.com/support/drivers/us/en/19) for a error free system.

Correct method to install graphic drivers is:

1.Remove any previous graphic drivers (If Any ,both Intel and AMD) completely (Clear registry by CCleaner).

2.Install Intel Graphic drivers (provided by Dell) and restarts the system.

3.Install AMD graphic drivers (Provided by Dell) and restarts the system.

But if System (Not Screen) Sleep and wake up doesn't  matter to you then install the drivers according to following steps.

1.Remove your previous both intel and amd video drivers completely (Also clean registry by CCleaner).

2.Download and install latest Intel graphic drivers (Intel HD4400) from here https://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx

 and restart the system.

3.Download and install AMD graphic drivers from here http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=391976

and again restarts the system.

4.Disable the Sleep in Power setting as system wake up from Sleep problem is not fixed yet.

5.Laptop Screen (Not System) Sleep/Wake up will work fine.

If Laptop face BSOD each time when windows boots up,then do following steps.

1.Open 'Advanced System Settings' (From Left side Menu in  'Control Panel\All Control Panel Items\System')

2.Open 'Startup and Recovery' Settings and uncheck "write an event  to the system log"

3.Check Automatically restart and select 'none' in Write debugging information.

All Done.

No Events found!
