Lattitude E4310 Wireless

Hi Guys,

To start, My daughter has her ex High School Dell Lattitude E4310 I3 Vista Basic, this was her laptop through her high school years, setup with Win8, when she left, the school wiped it and re installed Vista Basic on it., without a WiFi card to boot. Not to impressed at this, as we paid for the laptop we saw at home.. fully loaded and Win8, anyway..

So I managed to get a Dell 5540 card for it, installed and found the drivers on Dells site. Yet the drivers failed, and I have Triangles on all "other Devices" in Device manager.

I'm lost here, something so simple yet its a nogo. This is a good little laptop, yet its useless without WiFi for my Daughter.

Please help me

Cheers

Hi again,

Sorry but no sucess with this one either, still all flagged. It says there is no WiFi card installed. I have done a system restore to when the school reformated the PC, and installed the drivers once again, PC said hardware installed ok, and was ready to use, but when I try and connect there is no WiFi card installed.

Tried to insert a screenshot but paint wont save to a file that small??

Any ideas on what I have done wrong?

Hi TomT,

The Wireless card driver is compatible with both 32 bit and 64 bit driver. I would advise you to check if you are able to connect to the Internet using a known good computer. I would like to know if you are seeing red X on the Internet icon at the task bar.

Also, Please perform the following steps to check if your system is receiving an IP address from the ISP.

1. Click Start, and then type cmd in the Start Search box.
2. In the results area, click open cmd.exe.
3. Type the following command, and then press ENTER:
ipconfig /all
4. Please check for the IP address under ‘Ethernet adapter Local area connection’.
5. If the IP address is starting with 169.XXX.XX.XX. I would advise long power cycle. Please follow the steps for long power cycle.
6. Switch off the computer, Router and Modem.
7. Turn on the Modem after 1 minute.
8. Turn on the Router after 1 minute.
9. Turn on the computer after 1 minute.

In addition, In Command prompt screen (black screen). Type the following command, and then press ENTER:

Netsh Winsock Reset

Please let me know if this helps.
