I've had this happen a few times and yes, it is frustrating. Your adapter is fine, but it's not communicating with your router. The problem seems to be with setting up your wireless network and having your wireless adapter speak to the router. What router do you have and what OS are you running? I know on my Windows 7 Home Premium you go in to network and sharing center and set-up a new connection. You need to give your wireless adapter a network name that will be the same for all wireless adapters that will be part of your network. Then you have to set up the security-I use WPA2 with AES and you enter the network password-again, it has to be the same for all your home wireless adapters. I have the new Linksys ea6900 that has a set-up utility, but I just kept the name as Linksys12474 and accessed the smart utility web control and set it up there with a password too. I don't know if this will help, but the biggest problem is in configuring the wireless adapter with network name, encryption, and password. Someone with a little more simplified way to write the steps out could probably help you better-especially if you can't understand what I'm trying to tell you. Normally, it's showing your connected to your home network, but not the Internet. If you have done these things all ready with your adapter and your wireless network router, sometimes you have to unplug the modem and router. Plug the modem back in, wait for all the lights to go on, and then, plug the router back in. Your network name should appear and you should be able to connect to it. Hope this helps a little. There's also a lot of information on the net about how to set-up your wireless network and adapter. Good luck. I am better at showing then telling. This link from the community may also help you.  http://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/network-internet-wireless/w/networking_internet_wireless/1148.setting-uptroubleshooting-a-wireless-network.aspx
