XPS8700 snow on P2715Q display GTX745 4gig connected via HDMI

Get this snow / noise display on my XPS8700 any suggestions as to whether its the monitor or the gfx card?

Anyone seen this before?

Went to lower resolution and for now it's not happening.

The GTX 745 has DVI-I/DP/HDMI.
The P2715Q has HDMI/DP/mDP.
I would test using this setup to see if the snow is present using the resolution 3840x2160 60Hz =
XPS 8700 GTX 745 DP out --> Dell DP to mDP cable --> P2715Q mDP in

I would also test using a different HDMI to HDMI cable.

My XPS8700 Has HDMI VGA and DVI no DP.

The only DP is on the motherboard are you suggesting connecting to that and using the onboard intel graphics chip?

Is that the Dell Nvidia GeForce 745? What is your service tag number? Can you post a picture of the bottom video card ports?

I see where the confusion on my part was. We sold that card in both a full size (DVI-I/DP/HDMI) and a low profile (DVI-D SL/HDMI/VGA). You have the low profile version.

The low profile GTX 745 has DVI-D SL/HDMI/VGA.
The P2715Q has HDMI/DP/mDP.

So the only way to to connect is how you set it up =
XPS 8700 GTX 745 HDMI out --> HDMI to HDMI cable --> P2715Q HDMI in

We did not ship an HDMI cable with the P2715Q so that must be a 3rd party cable. Contact Dell Technical Support. Ask them to send you for free the Dell HDMI to HDMI cable, part T516N. Let's see if using our cable makes a difference.

By the way, press the P2715Q Menu button. At the bottom, what are the listed Resolution and Maximum?

Hi, same problem here with my new 8700 and P2715Q. I am using DVI - DVI to Hdmi converter - HDMI in monitor, and having same pink noise some times... I am thinking if I remove the GTX745 and use on board display card and DP ports, it might be fine...

I got rid of the graphics card and purchased a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 G1 Gaming GDDR5 (Because it has 3 Display ports)

Haven't seen the issue since.

CAUTION: You will also need to upgrade your Powersupply.

Hi Chris,

I have a related issue. I have a new xps8900 and a p2715q. I am not receiving any signal from the pc to the monitor using the dp connected to the back of the pc and the mdp connected to the monitor. Any suggestions?
