Bogus Dell Support Popup ?

Today I started receiving a diagnostic popup window from Dell stating that I had a hardware problem.  It asked me to run a HW scan which I did. The diagnostic tool indicated that the CPU, Optical Drive and Memory were all good.  System passed the test yet it encouraged me to download IOLA diagnostic software for free?

I am always suspicious of so called free stuff due to the gotchas and adware built into them.  Is this a promotional ploy?  I say that since the same popup window came up later after the scan?

I not sure you understood the the problem. I stopped the popups by uninstalling Dell Support asst Agent. Now I no longer get messages all day asking me to run a scan and download IOLA to fix a non existing problem.   I am sure you did not mean to imply the IOLA was begware malware or did you?  What is IOLA anyway?  Why is Dell using a 3rd party software.  PC Doctor I trust.  Not sure about IOLA.

If you were referring to Dell Backup & Recovery Pro for $35.00 ,no thanks.  The standard Dell Backup & recovery only restores to Win 8.0 which is unacceptable. I can always restore 8.0 with the OEM key or other software.

What are the minimum software diagnostic software I should have installed on this XPS 27.?
