Unknown Device
I have a Dell 8700 XPS running Windows 8.1 and when I boot up and check out the My Dell pane, it tells me I have an unknown device that has no driver. When I check Device Manager, sure enough, it lists an unknown device. Obviously I am not going to be able to find a driver for an unknown device. Can I delete this from the Device Manager or will that lead to further problems?

If you have a usb printer or another device with a memory card slot besides the computer. Sometimes it will show up as a removable drive in windows, If you hide the drive, you get that error. Also if you use software that creates virtual drives this may also show that error. Unplug all devices from the usb slot except the mouse & keyboard, turn off all wifi devices. See if you still get that error. Note, you may get network device(S) not found, that because you have them turned off.
