Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client on VDI Session (vWorkspace 8.0)
Dear all
Does somebody have some experiences with Cisco AnyConnect VPN Client (ASA 8.0) in VDI Session ?
Are there some special hints or is it generally not recommended to use VPN Software in a VDI Session ?
Out Environement is vWorkspace 8.0 with Windows Server 2012 Standard and Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit on the VDI side (Client).
If you need any further information, just let me know.
kind regrads

Hi Thomas,
I don't have any direct experience but yes this is now possible.
You will need at least 8.0.306.1510 of the vWorkspace PNTools to make this work.
From the hotfix notes, you will see the following
A new configuration option is available to support virtual machines that have multiple IP addresses. Typically this configuration is not required, but can be useful in some cases (e.g. VM has multiple network adaptors, user starts a client VPN connection, a USB video camera adds a network adaptor when plugged in). This new configuration option allows an administrator to specify the IP address range vWorkspace should use for communication with the VM. This configuration would usually be performed on the template VM and would include the entire range of IP addresses that may be assigned to VMs created from the template VM. This option can be configured via a registry key on the VDI machine as described below.
On 32-bit computers, navigate to HKLM\Software\Provision Networks\Common
On 64-bit computers, navigate to HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Provision Networks\Common
Create the following keys:
The example configuration above results in an IP address range of 10.1.1.1-10.1.1.255. For a computer multiple IP addresses, if one of the IP address is in the configured range vWorkspace will use that IP address for management and remote desktop communication. If none of the IP addresses are in the configured IP address range, the first IP address based on binding order will be used.
Note: Dell Software does not provide support for problems that arise from improper modification of the registry. The Windows registry contains information critical to your computer and applications. Make sure you back up the registry before modifying it. For more information on the Windows Registry Editor and how to back up and restore it, refer to Microsoft Article ID 256986 “Description of the Microsoft Windows registry” at Microsoft Support.
I hope this helps!
Thanks, Sam
