install windows server 2008 R2 on PE 2900 III
hello,
i have a PE 2900 III with the current configuration 2003 SBS installed on it. also added 4x1TB WD Black 7.2RPM in RAID 6.
i want to install a new windows server 2008 R2 / 2012, can i do it ? do i need to upgrade the hardware ? does dell site has all drivers for that OS ?
i'll appreciate any kind of help...

Yes.
No, but it would be advisable to update the system firmware (BIOS, ESM, NIC, PERC, etc.).
Yes, all the needed drivers are supplied by Dell at support.dell.com.

Really?!
Look at the date of the spec sheet you linked to. May 2006. Server 2003 was the only option around at the time. Nobody knew anything about 2008 or later OS's.
Go to support.dell.com as previously advised, to the drivers page for the 2900:
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04/product-support/product/poweredge-2900/drivers
Change the dropdown to the OS of YOUR CHOICE (2008, 2008 R2, 2012, 2012 R2 are all options).

That's not to mention the fact that I have dozens of 2950's (the rackmount equivalent of the 2900) running 2008 R2 and later.

hi flash,
iv'e looked again on the http://advisors.dell.com/AgileWeb/iDrivematrixView.aspx that you've sent and is updated to April 2015.
there's no mention that server 2012 R2 can be installed on PE2900 but the opposite it's blank.
dell says "Blank cells indicate no support"
and where it's written "supported" systems may not have OpenManage support.
