Hi Ujjwal_grover,

Thanks for your post.

Here is some information to assist you:

1.Insert your Windows installation disc and restart the computer.
2.Choose your language settings, and then click "Next".
3.Click "Repair your computer."

If that's not working, have you run the system diagnostics check yet?  If the diagnostics show that the hard drive has failed, you will need a new one.  If you are still under warranty, you can contact Tech Support to set that up, or if you're out of warranty, you can contact the Out of Warranty repair department for repairs or you can contact your local computer repair store.

Regards,
Robert

Hi,

Thank you for reaching us.

Please run a hardware diagnostics to confirm the functionality.

To enter diagnostics, Please keep tapping F12 key on the start up Dell logo that comes up as soon you power on the laptop.

In the list of options, Select "Diagnostics" from the list.

Run the tests completely, if you get any error messages, Please let us know the error message and validation code, That would tell us if the hard drive is fine or faulty.

Thank you

Hi,

2000-0142 is a Hard drive failure.

You need to replace the Hard drive. If the machine is under warranty, we can get it replaced at no extra charge, Else you need to pay for the part and service.

Thank you

The warranty period is over 9 months before. I don't understand one thing , my laptop had worked perfectly for a day after I got it serviced at Dell authorised service center in Chennai ( Spencer plaza )... The hinges of the laptop were changed. And they even checked the system, it was booting ..so no issues with the hard disk....after a day it stopped functioning and system is not booting.....

And how much will the new hard disk cost me for my touchscreen laptop Dell inspiron 15R 5521....pre-installed hard disk is 1TB...service tag is <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy>
