P2815Q setup
Please excuse if I don’t use the right terms – I am not very computer literate.
My computer is a Dell Inspiron 3847 with Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit, integrated graphics included, bought a year ago directly from Dell. I don’t know how to tell what kind of video card it has. It has Intel HD Graphics 4600. It has an HDMI port. I just bought a Dell P2815Q monitor from another vendor. I cannot get it to work. Please tell me what I am doing wrong. It has power.
I called Dell support who told me to get an HDMI cable. I bought an HDMI cable from a local store that is a High Speed HDMI cable that looks like it is meant for an HD TV-it supports full HD 1080p.
Is this the correct cable? So now I have a cable from the monitor’s HDMI port to the computer’s HDMI port and a cable from the monitor’s upstream USB port to a USB 3.0 port in the computer. When I press button C, all I get is the “No DisplayPort cable” message. When button D is pressed, an image of a lock appears. When buttons A and D are pressed, the screen turns gray, red, etc.
I have looked at the online manual and followed the directions on this forum for unplugging and plugging the cords and doing the self-test.
I don’t know if my computer supports the MST function – Do I need both cords to the computer? I connected my previous Dell monitor (model 2007WFPb) back to the computer, then tried to load the driver from the CD and got the following:

So you somehow enabled the OSD lock. Unlock it by pressing and holding in the D key for 10 seconds. Then choose Input Source HDMI

HDMI is only going to do 3840x2160@30Hz. That is only if the Intel HD Graphics 4600 supports that high resololution. DP 1.2 should be off in the Menu OSD (On Screen Display).
* Turn the computer and P2815Q off
* Disconnect the P2815Q power cord from the bottom of the monitor
* Disconnect every video cable from the P2815Q
* Press and hold in the monitor power button for 15 seconds
* Connect in this way =
Computer HDMI out --> HDMI to HDMI cable --> P2815Q HDMI in
* Turn the computer on
* Turn the P2815Q on
* Press the P2815Q Menu button
* Choose Input Source HDMI
* Exit the Menu

I followed your instructions. I reconnected the power cord before turning the monitor back on.
I continue to get the “No DisplayPort cable” message.
When I press the menu button, no menu appears, just the “No DisplayPort cable” message.
When button D is pressed, an image of a lock appears.
