VPN login fail...noob who has read faq's and threads before posting.

VPN login fail...noob who has read faq's and threads before posting.

I have a Coby MID7015 running Android 2.1 and hae successfully used PocketCloud to logon to our Windows 2003 Server without problem. Impressed, I bought pro so I could also logon to another Server using VPN. I now have three items on my list. The original RDP connection which works flawlessly, the new VPN connection and the new RDP connection which I can only use after the VPN successfully connects. The RDP connection is a local 192.168 type of connection.

I first need to make VPN connection...I do this all the time from my XP Pro desktop. I copied the login specs from desktop VPN connection but noticed that on desktop there is user name but in PocketCloud no user name is requested. Not sure what to do next. I must say that, although I am 100% sure that on desktop it is a pure VPN connection, the server is a dyndns address...maybe this is part of the problem.

In any case, I'll keep fiddling with this wonderful software...but if anyone can reduce my fiddle time I'd be grateful.

Are you using autoconnection(using google signin). If you have vnc installed on your computer, you will see 2 connections-one for vnc and one for rdp.
Looks like you are trying the vnc connection-This does not have username.

I am not using autoconnection. The server I am trying to reach has no special connection software on it. It is a windows server 2003 device. I am able to make a vpn connection from my desktop. In my Network COnnections I set up a VPN connection which asks for a username and a password...I expected to be required to provide the same for a PocketCloud connection.

I do not have rights to load anything on the server. It's my understanding that for autoconnection this would be required.

So, strange situation...not very hopeful...and still confused. Why is a username requested for a vpn connection on my WinXP computer but not in PocketCloud? Scratching my head but still hoping for magic.

Hope I udnerstand your problem. VPN information you provide in phone-settings app and not in pocketcloud app. Just navigate to settings-wireless-add vpn.
Regarding pocketcloud login, you provide your login account information that you use to connect to your remote desktop. It need not be the same as your vpn account.

I'm not using a fone...it's a Coby MID7015 tablet running Android 2.1...only has Wifi, no other possibility for connection.
Pocket Cloud RDP works fine for one of my connections which don't require a VPN connection first. And it seems VPN is not possible because there is no field for entering user name.
Here are the steps I take on my pc...
1. Open VPN connection in my network places. Enter user name and pw...the server name is already remembered. Connection is made.
2. THen I open my RDP and enter 192.168.1xx.xx...then I get a local logon and am in our databse in seconds.

Was hoping it would be possible in Pocket Cloud...I saw that the free version had only RDP and I liked what I saw. Bought Pro, saw the VPN login had to place for user name, therefore my disappointment.

I looked all over my device last night and there is no local setting for VPN.

when you create a connection use the rdp option. (using + sign on top, add a connection. choose rdp)

Hi Flocker,

You need to initiate the VPN connection within the Android OS, not within PocketCloud. There are many tutorials for this on Google:http://lmgtfy.com/?q=android+2.1+setting+up+vpn.

PocketCloud cannot make the VPN connection for you so if your device does not have a setting for that then it won't be possible.

Hi Flocker,
Are you connecting to VPN through apple's interface in settings (or through a 3rd party app like cisco or juniper) . It ypu are trying to put in your vpn credentials in pocketcloud...that won't work.
You will need to put in the interface provided by Apple settings app or the 3rd party app.
Once you do it, you should be able to use your remote desktop account to connect.
