DELL XPS 8700 monitor flickering and pc freezes
I bought a new DELL pc from local dealer in May 2014
DELL XPS 8700
with AMD Radeon R9 270 -
i7-4770 CPU @3.40 Ghz with 16 Gb RAM -
Windows 8.1 64-bit operating system
in the past two weeks the monitor starts flickering and the pc freezes. Only by depressing the power button I can shutdown and then restart and after a couple of minutes the same thing happens.
I have run diagnostics and there is no problem,
I have checked device manager and all hardware seems working okay.
When reading email or reading this forum nothing happens.
But when I watch videos via facebook or youtube or play Dreamworks Dragon: rise of Berk on Facebook with my kids, then the problems start after a half hour.
I have uninstalled, deleted and reinstalled newest drivers for the AMD Radeon card, but that does not fix it.
Also when I open the box, all three fans the Dell came with, are working fine and there is no heat coming off the video card. The only heat is generated from the hard drive compartment.
Please advice what to do next?

I would be looking at three areas.
First, I'd uninstall and reinstall Adobe's Flash Player. I can't tell you how many times I've seen Adobe Flash causing problems like this.
Second, this type of issue can often be solved by turning off hardware rendering in Internet Explorer. Tools - Internet Options - Advanced tab - Checkmark "Use Software rendering instead of GPU rendering*" - OK (Restart your computer and try again)
Next, I'd run full scans for viruses and malware using an up to date virus scanner along with a dedicated malware scanner like Malwarebytes. Malware is often the cause of freezing, requiring a reset.

Can you test this monitor on a different PC or a different monitor on this PC?
It could also be a failing video card if it works ok with "easy" things like reading this forum, but fails when you play games which need a lot more processing power from the card, and/or the card overheats.
You might try opening the case and carefully reseating the video card in its slot. Then check that the card fan (if it has one) turns freely. Use canned air to blow out all the dust bunnies, especially from the CPU heat sink (May be HOT!), video card and RAM modules.
Always power off, unplug and press/hold power button for ~15 sec before working inside the case.
