PocketCloud Windows Companion 2.5.13 has builtin TightVNC server on port 28790?

Question PocketCloud Windows Companion 2.5.13 has builtin TightVNC server on port 28790?

How come Wyse doesn't tell us that Wyseremoteaccess.exe service is actually a TightVNC server and you can setup a Remote Shadowing VNC session using Windows user name/password?
The PC even show up in Discovered Connections list.
No need for 3rd party VNC server.

That is correct, remote shadowing is not available AS IS with non Home versions of Windows (that do not have RDP capability). You will be asked for a password if the 3rd party VNC option is enabled within the companion. What you will need to do is install the TightVNC client to set a VNC password so you can connect.

Download TightVNC here:
http://tightvnc.com/download.php

After that is done, set a VNC password and make sure the port matches within TightVNC and in the companion.

Thank you for your reply.
How do I setup remote shadowing (VNC) without installing 3rd party VNC Servers on non Home OS's?
I already know how to connect RDP with a Discovered Connection but I want to be able to use remote shadowing (VNC) AS IS.

Thanks

I read the article but the Remote shadowing (VNC) is not available as Discovered Connections AS IS after installations, only RDP.
If you check the box for 3rd party VNC then you see the Remote shadowing (VNC) at Discovered Connections but will ask you for a password...

Unfortunately installing a 3rd party VNC client is the only way to do this on non-home versions of Windows as of this time.

scottpush, please take a look at the following knowledge-base article related to credentials and where to use what within PocketCloud:
http://pocketcloudsupport.wyse.com/e...d-Credentials-

When you say it is asking your for VNC, are you saying it is asking you for VNC credentials? If it is asking you for VNC credentials (when signed into auto-discovery with your gmail credentials) this is normal. The Gmail credentials just take care of the initial setup of the connection, you will still be required to enter some kind of credentials when connecting to your remote server. And what credentials you use will be dependent on what type of connection (VNC or RDP) and also what type of computer you are connecting to. The link above will explain all of this.

If you are using auto-discovery, there is no need to set up manual connections. If you are using auto-discovery with gmail credentials, VNC is still needed. Again, your gmail credentials are only helping with the initial connection setup.

Depending on how you are connecting with your computer (VNC or RDP) TightVNC may be needed to connect if you are using the VNC connection type to connect to your remote server.

I am a newby and am having a tough go of this stuff. Everything was working fine until I rebooted my pc and my android. Then from the Discovered Connections I click that pc and it asks me to enter username and password. I enter the only ones I've been using and it says 'Invalid Credentials'. I've seen the link for all this credentials stuff but I don't know if I need windows, or google, or what. I cleared all the pocketcloud data and force stopped it. Then opening it up it asked for VNC, etc. Why would it do that if I am connecting thru gmail? Do I need both to sign into google and use VNC? Anyhow I filled all that out and now I have both Discovered connections and Manual connections on 'My Computers'. I am really not understanding what is going on here. Also, do I need TightVNC running if I'm using Discovered connections? Thanks, Scott
