Still having Internet connectivity issues.
I recently made a post about the Dell Inspiron disconnecting the Internet randomly. At first it seemed turning off the power management option worked, but now it seems to disconnect even more than it used to. Is there anyway to fix this? Is there a separate Internet receiver I could use that could work better if that's the issue? If I need to update my BIOS, how do I go about doing so?
OS: Windows 8.1
CPU: Intel Core i5 @ 3.2GHz

Hi,
What is the wireless card that you have in the laptop?
Is the internet connection dropping when you're on wired connection too?

My wireless card is a Dell Wireless 1705 802. 11b/g/n (2.4GHZ), and it's in a Dell Inspiron 3847 desktop computer. I only use wireless connection, so I'm not sure about wired.

Hi,
Please ensure the wireless driver is updated and the BIOS too. Use the link given in the previous reply.
Once that is done, Open "Device Manager" Change the Advanced card properties - Change Roaming Aggressiveness option.
Change the wireless channels in the Advanced card properties to 11 or 6 and
Disable Bluetooth Collaboration.
Check if that works.
Please note, It is advisable to keep a Ethernet plugged in while we work on wireless connectivity, should something go wrong, then we will end up with no internet at all.

EDIT: I've downloaded a new driver that I got from the link the last post. The Dell Wireless 1705 from December of 2014 which is much newer then the one I had originally. But it says the installation failed. Do I have to uninstall the previous before I can install the new one? Also, there is nothing in the device manager or the Dell Wireless properties that I can see that shows something like that.

Hi,
Yes, we need to complely remove the driver and software from Device manager and also from Programs and features in control panel to install the fresh copy.
If you could, please take a screenshot of Wireless card properties and attach it in the reply.

Would I be able to do this myself? If I'm correct I have to delete the Dell Wireless driver from device manager and from the Programs and Features section and reinstall the new one and it should work after a restart?

Hi,
Thats correct, it should work fine after reinstlaling the driver if the wireless card is fine.
However you need to make sure the driver is saved somewhere in the PC or in a USB key ,if the computer doesnt pick up the native drivers, we will be left with no internet.

Ok, do I also need to uninstall the Bluetooth drivers of the driver I got is the newest driver for the Inspiron 3847?

Hi,
This is a combo card, BT + Wireless in the same card, Hence it is advisable to remove both wireless and bluetooth driver and reinstall a fresh copy.
