Dell Vostro 230 Slim Tower RAM Upgrade
Is there a definitive approved Dell part number (or equivalent) that I can purchase to upgrade my Vostro 230 Slim Tower from 1GB to 4GB (2 x 2GB). The specs of the Vostro are:
Motherboard:
MFR No: MIG41R P/No: 07N90W
Dell P/No: JL1117 Rev: A01
RAM: Kingston 1GB 1Rx8 PC3 10600U 9-10-A0
Current Bios Revision: 1.4.0
Currently running Windows 10
There is a lot of conflicting information around on this subject. I want an approved part number that I can purchase from Dell.

Y996D
Any of these will work.

Hema, Thanks for the reply. Can this motherboard accept more than the suggested 4GB (2 x 2GB modules) RAM?. For example, can it take 8GB (4 x 4GB modules). If it can, what are the Dell part numbers and equivalents for this RAM.

The system supports max of 4 GB only.

I have 8gb in my vostro 230, even though it says 4gb max, just need to make sure your running 64 bit Windows.
Used Crucial CT2KIT51264BA160B 8GB (2X4GB) DDR3 240 Pin 1.35V/1.5V
