Hi Mykiel Gonz,

The 5 and 6 beeps like advised earlier, both refer to the motherboard. It is good that you managed to isolate the LCD is working fine.

Have you tried reseating the CMOS battery as advised in my previous post? The next step is to replace the motherboard. I have provided info about the same in my previous post.

Let us know if you have any other questions.

Hi Mykiel Gonz,

What is the exact system model? And what is the exact# of beeps? 5 beeps are CMOS battery failure and 6 beeps refer to video card failure. Considering an Inspiron system, both the 5 and 6 beeps would isolate the issue with the motherboard - see this link - http://bit.ly/1JJRQp9

Confirm if the LCD works fine - press and hold "D" key + power button to turn on the system - it should initiate a built in self test on the LCD - you would see solid changing colors. This will confirm if the LCD is fine.

Download the service manual from - http://dell.to/1kGWIcI- enter the service tag and download the service manual - remove the CMOS battery and turn on the system and check if it posts. Then put the CMOS battery back in and restart the system and check if the system works fine.

If the system is under warranty, then we can setup a service call based on your region. If no warranty, we can provide a paid service call. You could also contact us via Twitter - @dellcares - for faster communication.

If there is no warranty and you wish to order the parts yourself, then you could contact - http://www.parts-people.com/ - and have the parts ordered through them.

Keep us updated.

I have a dell inspiron 1564.. i have 6 beeps followed by 5 beeps. The LCD responds with the input of "D" key + power button with solid colors (green, red, white, and so on)

Hello Rishi,

I have tried reseating the CMOS battery but there was no change at all. I think I have to replace the motherboard. There are times that the 6 beeps are followed by 2 but mostly followed by 5.

Thank you for your last response
