Control WLAN radio

Hi,

I have a problem with auto disable WiFi when LAN is connected.

I have Dell Latitude E5570, BIOS version 1.3.8, OS is Windows 10.

In BIOS setting Control WLAN radio is enabled but when I connect LAN cable to computer WiFi remains turned on.

Does anybody know where could be the problem? What i'm doing wrong?

Hi,

I don't think you're doing anything wrong.  That BIOS setting should do what you're looking to have happen.  Perhaps some setting in Windows is overriding it?  Did you check the Network Settings in Win10?

I don't think, or wouldn't think, that Windows should be able to override that BIOS setting but I've been known to be wrong before.   Is this a brand new system?   I ask because version 1.3.8 came out just about 3 weeks ago to resolve an issue with docking stations on the Latitude 5X70 line of laptops.  I wonder if this is a side result of that BIOS update / corrections.  On this downloads page for the 1.3.8 BIOS revision, under "Other Versions" is a link to download the previous version.   See if your system will allow you to download that version and install it.  Perhaps that will resolve the problem.

To better help me troubleshoot this problem please right click on my Dell Todd username and send me a private message with the Dell Service Tag of your Latitude E5570.  Please keep all discussions and troubleshooting steps here in this public thread so that others, who might have the same questions, can see what is discussed.

Thank you,

Todd

Hi,

I knew we had a support article about this.  I just couldn't locate it until now.  Here, check out this article:

How to disable a wireless network connection when a wired connection is detected

That should help.

Let me know,

Todd

Good Afternoon Todd,

I am having a similar situation as the original poster.  The computer I am utilizing has Windows 7 installed.  I followed along with the steps mentioned, however I am not seeing the numbers in the Event Viewer.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Keith

The Dell 5570 series have an additional driver that need to be install before the Wireless Radio control feature in bios works properly.
