When I plug my charger into my studio 1537 laptop the charging light goes out.
I have replaced the DC jack and cable and bought a new charging cord etc, but the same thing keeps happening. What is my next step?

I was facing the same issue, (with my Alienware m14 R2). Technical Support/Service Center suggested replacement of Motherboard; worth INR 14,000/-
I work in a Data Center and at home I have an UPS as a power source for my Notebook. I am unable to understand the cause of fault (which was guessed as Reverse Current, by Tech Support).

Given the multi-layer construction and the number of components on the mainboard, forensic analysis of failure is very, very difficult - any of the dozens of components might have failed, as might any one of the many cold-solder joints on the board.
