Inspiron 7000 Not Powering On

Hi,

I have a Dell Inspiron 7000, 15.6" i7 8gb ram that isn't powering up. I press the power button, the button lights up and keyboard backlight lights, then the power button fades out and continues this light up fade out process on it's own indefinitely. The screen does not turn on, the fan does not turn on, and there is no beeping.

I've tried:

  • Pulling battery and AC cable and holding the power button for 5, 10, 15 and 30 seconds, then reinstalling battery and AC cable. I've also tried this with just the battery, and just the AC cable. No changes.
  • I've removed hard drive and started with no change
  • Removed small coin battery (CMOS?) and reinstalled after 30 seconds.
  • Removed, cleaned and reinstalled RAM stick. No change.
  • Removed everything from USB and HDMI accessories and attempted to start with an accessory in the individual ports.

Now, when I power it on with the RAM stick removed, the fan turns on, the screen backlight comes on(but doesn't display anything) and I hear beeping. Also, I installed a 2gb stick from a friends laptop and get the same symptoms as with no RAM installed.

Anyone have any other ideas they could throw at me?

Thanks!

Hi Allthrottle,

Thanks for writing to us and to try the troubleshooting steps.

Looking at the outcome of the troubleshooting, the issue looks to be with the memory slots on motherboard. Without the memory stick and with new memory sticks it gives beeps which indicates NO MEMORY error.
