Is it possible to upgrade the ssd on the xps 12 9250 2 in 1? If, so, what forma factor does the drive need to be? 2.5"?

No. Those used mSATA -- the newer one uses the M.2/NGFF format (but in SATA form - not PCI Express/NVMe).

Yes, that should be what you need.
You'll also need to prepare a set of recovery media if you haven't done so already.

It is possible - the system uses an M.2 SATA card drive (NOT a 2.5" drive).

Thanks! I didn't want to spend that much on the wrong drive! One last question if I may. Do you know if the ram is soldered to the board like other dell tablets or can it be replaced/upgraded?
