Unable to find the 2nd RAM slot Dell Latitude e5470
Hi
Just received my new e5470 with 4GB RAM, I wanted to upgrade to 16GB (2x8GB) which I have from my previous laptop. I found only one slot underneath, the usual place for the 2nd slot next to it does not have the slot set up and it is blank. I have also removed and checked under the keyboard but it was not there either.
The BOIS setup stated that I have two slots, one is 8GB which is I know I have (I changed the 4GB which came originally with one of the two 8GB that I have) and the other is "not slotted" which I am unable to locate.
Does anyone know where is the other slot located?
Thank you

If you order with i7-6600U and AMD M360 you only get 1 RAM DIMM Slot. The i7-6600U supports 16GB in a 2x8GB configuration so maximum memory is limited to (1) 8GB DDR4.
If you order with i7-6820HQ and Intel HD Graphics 530 you get 2 RAM DIMM slots. The i7 6820HQ supports 64GB in a 2x32GB configuration so maximum memory is limited to 64GB DDR4.
The E5570 is different and supports up to 64GB with 2 DIMM slots since you can order i7-6820HQ AND AMD M370 GPU.

The manual will have that info. It is most likely under the 4 gb.

Hi Mary
What do you mean by "under the 4 gb"? is this a physical location or you mean it is under 4 gb in size?
I have searched in the manual, it does not show where is the 2nd slot
Thank you

The two modules should sit side by side - if there's no connector for a second module, there must be a version of the mainboard for these that has only one memory slot.

I have the same problem: I want to upgrade my laptop memory (according to this it must be 2 slots - <ADMIN NOTE: Broken link has been removed from this post by Dell>, but it is only one. Another area suitable for memory is empty and has no any slot.

heavymetallic, chmelvv, it is because you have discrete graphics E5470 version, just an another “surprise” from Dell. dGPU e5470 has only 1 memory slot while iGPU e5470 has 2. So the only option to get 16GB in your case is actually 16GB stick. You can’t have 8GB+8GB unfortunately.

I tested with (1) 16GB DDR4 2133 stick and i7-6600u. With latest BIOS laptop registers 16GB in one slot in BIOS and Windows.
