inspiron 580 hibernate

Windows start>shutdown> shows switch user|logoff|lock|restart|sleep. no hibernate. I ran powercfg.exe /hibernate on and verified that c:\hiberfil.sys is present. Is there a bios setting that would control this? The only power settings I see in bios are: ACPI SUSPEND S3; REMOTE WAKE UP ENABLED;AC RECOVERY POWER OFF; AUTO POWER ON DISABLED. Does one of these control hibernate?

Running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

TIA.

Hi yoyo4178

Thanks for writing to us.

Please try these steps and let us know if worked.

Click on "Start button -> All Programs -> Accessories". Right-click on "Command Prompt" and select "Run As Administrator". If you are prompted to enter password, enter the password and continue.

Now enter the command

powercfg /hibernate on

now press enter, and close the command prompt

Check if the hibernate option appears.
