Precision T7500 SPD info not available
Hi everyone,
Recently I switched from Precision T7400 to T7500. With my old T7400 I was used to see a lot of temperature sensors, including for each DIMM module. I know that DDR3 10600R is much colder than DDR2-5300F and that's not my concern.
My problem is that I can't get SPD info with any program I've tried - AIDA,CPU-Z, HWMonitor, hwInfo, some benchmarks. The only info I can get is with WMIC (wmic memorychip) - it says at least dimm PartNumber.
When I checked userbenchmark site for other T7500 results, I noticed that they also do not provide detailed info about memory, most of them are "unknown xxGB", same as mine.
My question is : is that a limitation of motherboard/chipset, software limitation(but I checked at least 6 different programs) and all says nothing(except wmic) or what? Is there any dell update/driver that I need to install to see this info as expected?
Hope someone can answer.
Regards

According to
"Enumerating the SMBus to get SPD data"
https://software.intel.com/en-us/forums/watercooler-catchall/topic/309123
even Intel doesn't know, how to do it :)
"WMI also supports reading the entire contents of SMBIOS data in a single buffer using the MSSMBios_RawSMBiosTables class inside of the root\wmi namespace. The SMBiosData property returns a buffer containing the entire SMBIOS data table, except the SMBIOS Structure Table Entry Point as defined in section 2.1.1 of the SMBIOS specification." is from
http://download.microsoft.com/download/5/D/6/5D6EAF2B-7DDF-476B-93DC-7CF0072878E6/SMBIOS.doc
And here too no mention of Serial Presence Detect Reading.

Ubuntu seems to be smarter than windows.
Load Ubuntu
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install i2c-tools
$ sudo modprobe eeprom
$ sudo sensors-detect
$ decode-dimms
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/wily/man1/decode-dimms.1.html
DESCRIPTION
The purpose of the decode-dimms tool is to decode the
information found in memory module SPD EEPROMs.
The SPD data is read either from the running system or dump files.
In the former case, the tool requires either the eeprom kernel
module or the at24 kernel module to be loaded.
Example output of decode-dimms:

Hi.
I'm with the same Problem as the thread starter, my Latitude D530 doesn't read SPD Information.
I know, it is an old unit, but as long as it does ist job . . .
It is equipped with 2 Hynix HYMP125S64CP8 SO DIMM (2GB 2Rx8 PC2-6400S-666-12)
For some reason the BIOS refuses to use them at 800MHz which the chipset, Intel 965, should be able to do.
With CPU-Z, no SPD Information can be retrieved.
So my question:
How do I convince the BIOS to switch to 800 MHZ?

Ram speed is determined by the cpu. There is no overclocking. What you are asking is NEVER done via Latitude Bios.
