Charging dangers
After spending over an hour on the phone with Dell tech support, I was informed that my Inspiron 11 3000 Series 2 in 1 laptop probably won't turn on because I have charged it for over 7 hours. I was informed that the laptop needs a charging schedule and cannot be charged over seven or eight hours. I asked if this means I need to charge it for the same amount of time everyday and she said yes. I am not sure why anyone would buy a laptop that you cannot charge for more than seven or eight hours without it breaking.
Additionally, I was asked to remove the battery two times by the first representative that I got. I tried multiple times to explain to him that it did not have a removable battery. He said to me that if it was too difficult for me I didn't have to remove it. I then told him that I would open the whole computer if that was what he wanted. He replied that if it wasn't too difficult to please remove the battery. At this point I asked to speak to another representative. The next representative told had me plug it into the AC adapter and then told me it was on because the charging light came on. I tried explaining to her that it was a charging light and she told me I was wrong and if the light was on then the computer was on. I then asked why it turns off when I unplug the charging cord. That earned me another turn on hold. Uggs!
Worst customer service ever!!!! I am so thankful that this isn't my laptop because after over an hour it still won't turn on!
Do not buy this computer!

I plug in my Dell Inspiron 11 2in1 (3158) to the mains as long as I can, so I don't use the embedded battery, thus prolong the battery life. I'm limiting the charge to 80% only to reduce stress on the battery.
also I left the notebook in sleep, rarely shut down. No problems so far.
I'm really enjoying this new "fancy" 2in1 touchscreen laptop :) Happy dell customer here.
But there are some minor charging problems too,
- Charging "Start At" percentage not working, no matter how I'm set
- No option to disable battery charging at all. Most of other dell notebook got that option.
- Keyboard backlight upgrade please?

Even modern battery tech such as lithium ion etc should occasionally be fully discharged to "exercise" the battery. When your laptop is new you should charge it and drain it to shut off several times. This is observed to increase battery life. Just like the engine in a brand new car often the way you treat it for the first 500 miles determines how it will behave in the future. Current tech laptop batteries are a lot better than the old nicad tech about developing a "memory" issue and failing to take a full charge but you should still charge and drain your battery occasionally to ensure longest service life. As far tech support goes on the phone or in a chat you are mostly getting script readers not real techs. They seem to have a real tech in the forums, ask here first in my opinion. I've been building computers since the late 80's when consumers could afford one. Stuff changes fast, I just completed a new machine after years of my old system and I had to do a lot of updates of my knowledge before I could effectively understand all the new advances. For a lightweight machine the inspiron 11 with the pentium and my upgrade of an 8 gig Crucial chip and an old ssd drive and a new dualband wifi card it's a competent little machine and I think more flexible than a tablet of the same size with windows. I thought a touch screen was going to be da bomb but I'm realizing that software must often be written to support a touch screen or you will be going totally mouseless/touch paneless when using many programs. I wish stylus support was better, I cannot really do much with my fat fingers. If I had a wish list for this program: 1-second wan socket for a cellular network card: 2- either a socketed cpu or the option to buy motherboards only with the faster non-socketed cpu, 3- STYLUS SUPPORT,

This is not good advice. Lithium ion batteries should never be fully discharged. Doing so just once can permanently damage them:

Unlike other types of battery, lithium cells benefit from frequent, shallow charges - NOT full discharge. It is neither necessary nor good for the cell discharge them fully.
