Dell Wireless 1703 802.11b/g/n (2.4GHz)

I think that is my wireless card. My problem is it stops working if I leave it alone for a few hours. It may be 2 hours or 8 hours but invariably it stops. My icon shows connected and internet connection but when I try and load a page I get a not available. When I use the trouble shooter, first it fixes the interned access point and then it tells me that some protocols are missing.  The only way I can fix it is to reboot the computer.

I tried running the online test that Dell offers. It was supposed to take 3-5 minutes and after 30 it was still running.

Should I just get a new card and dump the card or is there something I'm missing with the card.

I'm running Win 10 and all my drivers are updated.

Thank you for any help.

What model desktop? To see what network adapter you have, open Device Manager.

Open Device Manager and expand list under Network Adapters. Whichever one you're using (wired or wireless), double-click it and then click its Power Management tab.  Uncheck the box "Allow PC to turn off..."

Then open the Windows Power Options screen. Click the link next to the currently used power plan to change its settings. Then click the link for Advanced Options.  Look for Wireless on the list at the left. Change the setting to max performance. Be sure to save the change before leaving the Power Options screen.

Reboot and see if that solves the problem.

I had similar problem. The way I  solved it was just uncheck the box "allow PC to turn off...". With that, wireless still works after the PC wakes up from sleep. Good luck.
