Can I downgrade Optiplex 9020 SFF's CPU?
Hello, I currently have an Optiplex 9020 SFF. Is it possible for me to take the current processor (Core i7 4770) and change it to, say, Core i3 4130 or Core i5 4460 - 4670k? I Know the socket is LGA 1150, however I'm afraid it might somehow not support some CPU....

The manual says it supports "Intel Core i3/i5/i7 series", and according to their shopping page, the SFF supports at least these 2 processors.
Intel® Core i5-4590 Processor (Quad Core, 6MB, 3.30GHz w/HD4600 Graphics)
Intel® Core i3-4160 Processor (Dual Core, 3MB, 3.60GHz w/HD4400 Graphics)
Probably only Dell can tell you what other CPUs it supports. Either way make sure you have the latest version of BIOS installed before changing the processor. Will you have to reinstall Windows and drivers if you swap CPUs?
The bigger question is why would you want to downgrade and get lower performance...?

Hi AbbeyReynard
Thanks for writing to us. We have always come across customers who want to upgrade the parts, but not downgrade. Any reason for the downgrade?
Also the system supports i5-4670S/4670 processor. Part#
I5-4670S :: RX37T
I5-4670 :: RXHF8
Do provide us your system tag#, email address and name via private message to update in the case.
Regards

Thank you for your reply.
I have been thinking of transferring some of the parts to a new rig, as the current case does not support higher level graphics card (GTX 960+). but I'd like to keep the computer as a backup / HTPC in the future due to its small case, hence the downgrade. Will it also support pentium?
