Clear Hard Drive Space on Venue Pro 8

I am not that computer literate so I hope someone can give me some detailed instructions on how to clear up hard drive space. I only use this windows tablet to print coupons so I have no apps downloaded. I have no idea what is taking up so much space.

Hi,

Thank you for writing to us!

If you are running minimum apps on the system and if you have storage issues it could be an issue with the operating system or the hard drive.

We would suggest you to back up the data on the system . Also since you use this image to save images for your prints maybe the file size of the images are big .

You can also try to reset the system to factory defaults and check if that helps .

Thanks

Robin

Try cleaning up your Internet browser's browsing history, in part or fully (you can select and de-select specific categories of what can be done)--it can accumulate data like crazy (GBs of info. over time, in my case).

Try a Windows system clean-up:  right click on your C drive in an Explorer window, Properties, Disk Cleanup, let it run to analyze your drive, and then choose "Clean up system files" and let it run again to analyze the drive, and then have it do the cleanup fully, making sure that you want it to do everything it shows (you also can de-select individual categories).

There also are various freeware utilities out there which will do a superb job in cleaning away old data leftovers no longer needed.  I use Glary Utilities (its DiskCleaner option) and it does a nice job.  Just be sure to peruse what it or another program is going to clean away before approving it--you don't want to get rid of valuable info.

I would try all of the above before re-setting Windows, which can be a more drastic (but sometimes needed) alternative.

I am not sure as to what to do. I am using a Dell Venue pro 8 Windows tablet. There is no " right click on a C drive in the explorer window that I see. I do not see how to get to properties and then disk cleanup.

Do you think you could give me more detailed instructions? Thank you

Hi,

Kindly try a disk clean up and also run checkdsk .If that doesnt work then please ensure that you back up the data on the system and reset it to factory defaults.

Kindly private message the service tag and email address.

Thanks

Open a Windows Explorer window.  On the left side of the window, under the "This PC" listing, there should be a listing for a C: drive.  If you are using a mouse, right click on that; if you are using your finger on the screen, do a long press on that and lift your finger.  You now should see a Properties option--follow the earlier instructions.  Hope this helps.

I'm sure I mentioned this in one of my posts before.  Download and install the free program WizTree.  It will show you exactly what is taking up space on your drive.  In my case it was recovery files from Dell's Backup and Recovery which I turned off and got my space back.
