XPS 15 9550 - BIOS 1.2.29 makes WD15 unusable

Hi!

Today I've upgraded my BIOS to the latest recommended version by SupportAssist that is to 1.2.29. Also today's update comes with new version of ASMedia USB Extended Host Controller Driver.

Once I installed them I've got unwanted results:
- My peripheral devices connected to WD15 aren't responsive, it looks like a connection with them is broken occasionally.
- BIOS doesn't recognize USB-C Charger (180W), and it claims that either it has 60W or aaaW, it warns that charging is disabled.

Solution what works for me was to downgrade BIOS to 1.2.25 version from: http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/19/drivers/DriversDetails?productCode=xps-15-9550-laptop&driverId=3W30W

@Dell Support: Please let me (us) know if this is known issue for 9550 (I've seen so far that there's a problem with 9360 after BIOS bump).

Cheers,
Piotr

Can you take the latest BIOS updates at Dell support site offline ASAP to avoid causing dock trouble to more users? Notice many complaints here and on Dell reddit, the problem seems to be common at least to XPS 9550, 9560, 9350, 9360, and some Precision models

I have the same problem on my TB16. The USB ports cannot work properly. I have to downgrade to the old version.

Yes, downgrade, it worked for me.  This is 100% Dell not testing their BIOS updates against the docks before releasing them.    Just embarrassing.

Thank you for your message.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience caused.

We will be glad to look into this.

Was the dock connected during bios update?

Hi, That's correct. I use XPS15 in 'shell mode' so that it's always connected.

I've seen 1.3.0 is out, but I didn't have a chance to test it yet. If somebody did, please write here if it has fixed the problem.
