Dell XPS 15 9550 - DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION blue screen BSOD
Hi there,
I used big old friend google many times, but to no avail. I have no cluehow to fix this error.
At irreguar moments (often simply while I have a Skype call, but not only then) my new Dell XPS 15 9550 would freeze and then a blue screen appears, saying DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION, we are now gathering information before we restart your PC. But the counter stays at 0%.
So I have to manually restart.
Nevertheless this happens about 1-2 times per week and it is pretty annoying. But nothing I found online would give me a clue of what to do....
Anybody knows the issue and how to solve it?

Hi
I am experiencing exactly the same problem. Have tried updating all drivers but this is still happening.
In addition when I sleep my laptop it often does not wakeup properly, but rather does a full reboot.
very frustrating.

I have brand new XPS 15 9550. I am seeing this daily. Will have to return it for a clunkier but stable Lenovo if there isn't a solution soon.

Hi there I too have had this issue.
I too bought my XPS 9500 around Aug 2016. I recieve the DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION BSOD perhaps once a week or once every two weeks, sometimes more frequently than that. It has been a regular source of frustration for me as I cannot find a cause.
It occasionally happens to me while I am editing a video project. This often upsetting because I lose my latest work.
Have already reformatted the laptop once since I bought it and am considering doing it again this time without the Dell software. Please help! Any assistance with this BSOD issue would be greatly appreciated!

Someone needs to supply a dump file. Dell may be able to tell what is happening if they check it remotely or have it sent in, but normal folks need the actual file. Of course, even that may not help.
If this is Win 10, put it on OneDrive and give us a link.

I have exactly the same problem. I applied all of the driver and firmware updates distributed on Dell support web. The BIOS is up to date. The situation persists.
