Bricked my 13r3 Kaby Lake via BIOS update

Hi, I bricked my laptop but have gotten far enough to short the pins, remove the CMOS battery, and disconnect the system's battery - downloaded the old BIOS and extracted it to a FAT 32 USB drive, but I can't find the right key combo to get the laptop to boot into a BIOS recovery state. Any help at this point would be great - it's under waranty and Alienware is sending me a new one, but I leave the country really soon and have nothing better to fixate on. Thanks in advance,

Beamer, thank you. I found this page last night along with another specificallly for Alienware laptops - but it was to hold down the fn key. I've tried many different combinations and nothing works. I get seven beeps and a blue blue red red pattern on the power button. I've been working with pcs for a very long time and I've never bricked one - there is almost always a way to recover the bios. I am trying to enter a ePSA pre boot state and I think even that is corrupted. I get some USB activity but I don't think I have the right file structure so it blinks a few times and then I think it moves on. So, I guess I need a ePSA miricle or a the right file structure. This is maddening! Maybe I just need to accept that I dun goofed

The format of the USB seems good, did you rename the file to a .rcv? Like this:

Type ren xxxxx.exe BIOS_IMG.rcv and press the Enter key.

(Replace the xxxxx with the name of the downloaded BIOS file.)

Note: Please include the space between xxxxx.exe and BIOS_IMG.rcv.

Beamer, thanks for your tenacity here. I've put a single file on the USB stick: Alienware_13R3_S1.0.3_K1.0.3.exe renamed as BIOS_IMG.rcv - and ensured that the file extensions were right. I was trying this earlier with variations like AMIBIOS.IMG after generating the image file from the executable that I downloaded. I get the same result, unfortunately: seven beeps blue blue red red, and a blank screen

Hmm.. after that I'm not sure what else to do.  It should just pick it up and re-flash it.  Maybe your USB Drive is too big?
