Precision 7520 - Adding 1x 8GB DDR4 Ram
HI,
I want to add 8GB more RAM to my laptop (I have 1 x 8 GB installed).
I managed to open the laptop properly, but I am not 100% sure in which of the two slots (under the keyboard) I should put the RAM module - since both don't seem to work - one slot it boots up but the new RAM is not shown, in the other slot it doesn't boot up.
Additional question: How can I reach the other two slots that are on the backside? Do I have to remove the entire back cover (e.g. if I want to install 32 GB altogether in the future).
Thanks
Oliver

Hi Oliver,
Here is a direct link to the Service Manual showing how to install the memory on both the top and bottom. Here is an older link, but it should be very similar for the configurations of the ram for the 7520. If you just put the new stick of ram by itself does it work? Also, is the ram the same brand and speed? If not, you might be able to try the bottom slot with one and the top slot with the other just to see if it works, but ideally if you use the memory in the primary slot it will need to be identical to each other (ideally, in my experience this is the way to get the best chance of them working correctly).
Best regards,
Brad

Hi Brad,
thanks! Yes, I followed the 7520 manual when I installed the RAM. Well, the seller claims that the RAM is certified for DELL and fits the 7520 specs.
UPDATE: Today I got a new module and now it works, probably a defective module before.
I also managed to install it quit easily in the primary slot as detailed in the manual
Cheers
Oliver
