Dell Inspiron 7359 2-in-1 sleep mode messed up after BIOS update

I was prompted to install a new bios update a few days ago, I let it go through and ever since then, if I shut the lid and put the laptop in sleep mode, opening the lid results in the screen flashing full of ascii boxes repeatedly, then it just goes blank.  If I push the enter key it'll just flash again with each press.  I end up having to hard reset the laptop before it will restart normally.  I'm really upset because this is 8 days out of warranty now.  Did Dell sabotage me?

No answer - just saying I'm having the same problem.  Hope you techies are working on it!

I got it working again.  Even though everything is set to automatically check for and install updates, it did NOT install a video driver update.  I manually checked for updates using Dell's update utility and it was showing updates for my video and storage drivers.   Installed both and now it's resuming from sleep normally.

Could have saved some frustration if automatic updates actually automatically updated!

Hi,

Welcome to our community. Firstly, perform the hardware diagnostics to isolate issues between hardware and software. You can click here to find the video to run the diagnostics.

Secondly, perform a flea power and check the performance. Follow the below mentioned steps:

- Remove the battery and then disconnect the AC adapter if connected.

- Press and hold down the power button for 15 seconds then release it.

- Reinsert the battery and then reconnect the AC adapter.

- Turn on the computer

Update the Video driver. To download the video drivers you can access our support site by clicking here. Once you enter into the home page, enter the service tag in the service tag field. Once you enter the service tag and submit, on the left side of the page, you have an option to click on drivers and download. Once you click on the option, you may download and install video drivers from the video section.
