Dell XPS 15 with WD15 dock and stops working after re-dock

I have a Dell XPS 15 and a Dell Dock WD15 which has been working fine for a long time but recently the WD15 dock has been acting up after it is re-docked to the laptop.

Everything works fine if I start the laptop with the dock plugged in but after re-docking the USB ports and Network (cabled) stops working. Everything seems fine with the drivers and as said it only happens after re-docking.

I've tried to rollback drivers and even downgrade the FW on the dock but the problem remains. The only way to "fix" it seems to be to restart the laptop after re-docking.

Running Win10 64-bit.

Any suggestions?

After trying everything else I downgraded the laptops BIOS to the previous version and then reinstalled the Thunderbolt drivers and firmware. After this it seems to be better but I still have intermittent disconnects on the network port and USB ports on the dock after any longer standby period (over night). A restart of the laptop solves those issues but it is really annoying having to restart this often...

There are several reports of XPS 15 9550 and Precision 5510 recent 1.2.29 BIOS screwing up USB with WD15 / TB16 again, someone @Dell please WITHDRAW THIS BIOS and check!

The TB16 worked perfectly for me and my 9550 (the laptop still crashes twice a day, that's a different story) until I installed 1.2.29 this morning.  USB chaos, only way to describe it.  Will have to downgrade.

Dell, it is called "quality assurance."  Please look into it.  Thanks.
