Dell Inspiron 7568 and Active Pen PN556W

Greetings

I recently purchased the Dell Inspiron 7568 FHD laptop and the Dell Active Pen PN556W.

I was informed by the website that these would work together.  I paired the pen with the laptop, downloaded the control panel and set up the buttons with my preferences.

Here is the issue, the pen and barrel buttons do not work.  I have tried replacing the batteries but it will not work.

However, I am able to pair it with my laptop, and use the top button to open certain programs.

I do not understand why this is not working, and I would imagine that if the pen wasn't working, then no part of it would work.

Could anyone help me find some answers?

Thanks.

That Pen has two sets of batteries.  The very small button batteries are easy to miss.

Otherwise, mine will not interact with my screen (QHD) on occasion and I have to gently tap it on something near where it screws together.  When it gets within 1/2 inch of the screen it should show a marker.

I should mention I use my pen on an XPS 9365 2-in-1 which does work.  I do not know about the Inspiron 7568.

The button batteries are in, and that top part of the pen is the only part of the pen that works.

My pen shows no marker when I hover it over the screen.  I can try tapping it, see if that works.

I am worried that I was lied to with this laptop and it is not the FHD model that is supposed to work, or if I got a bad pen.

According to the specs on the pen it states it is compatible with the 7568 (FHD only) but the wakeup feature is not available.

Funny, the site does not show the pen being compatible with my 9365, which it is.  I really hate trying to research some accessory on their site since the info is, in many cases, out of date or just wrong.

I have seen reviews that the laptop I have will work with it.

Is there a chance that the AAAA battery deals with the pen and the two button batteries deal with the top button?

I have not tried to track which battery does what, but if only one part of your system is working you can remove one set and see if it changes.

My thoughts on my pen is the battery connectors are losing contact for some reason, hence the tapping to get it back.  The side buttons will work if the pen is sensing the active screen and show the small crosshair when in close proximity.

I don't remember all I installed for the pen but I did load driver software.  In the Device Manager under HID you do show a Wacom device with a bunch of drivers?  The Active Pen App driver is what I downloaded and installed.
