TB-16 and XPS13 9360 Docking Settings

When docking with the lid closed, I sometimes get unexpected results. For example, my external monitor will remain at the same resolution as the laptop (150% character size) or sometimes it will scale to what it should be (100%). When it doesn't scale down and uses the same display settings as the laptop, the resolution is still 1920x1080 but everything on screen is huge.

When opening the lid and closing it back again, it often resolves the issue and my external monitor goes black for a second and turns back on with the proper settings.

My question is, what settings should I use for the close lid. I currently have sleep for all of them. Should I select leave on when closing the lid?

Second question: When I dock my XPS, should the lid be open or closed or does it even matter. I just find that if I dock when the lid is open and then close the lid, the monitor resolution is ok. When docking with the lid closed, the monitor sometimes doesn't scale down as explained above.

Just a note that I did install all the drivers and bios explained in the article about how to troubleshoot the TB16 - https://www.dell.com/support/article/us/en/04/SLN301075/how-to-use-and-troubleshoot-the-dell-thunderbolt-dock--tb16-?lang=EN

Thanks

Hi,

Welcome to our community.

We’ll surely try to assist you. We understand your concern. Having said that, we request you to set the system’s sleep option to never sleep and check if the issue re-occurs.

Also, please provide us with the service tag/ express service code of the laptop via private message, we’ll check for updated graphic drivers and update you with the same. To send a private message, click on my name and select ‘Send private message’.

The Service Tag is a 7-character code, and the Express Service Tag is a 10-digit code that is a numeric version of the Service Tag. Both codes are on the bottom of your laptop. You can also refer to this link which is a video that shows steps to find the service tag.

Hello, I think the problem lies with my service code not being in the system. I tried entering the service tag and express service tag but it says it's not a valid product. If I provide the service tag and express service tag on this forum, would it be entered in the system so to speak? I also get critical updates and when I click update, an error occurs so my dock is not in sync with my XPS in terms of drivers. When I try to do manual updates, I'm only given 3 files and can't find bios files anywhere.
