Hello r_benabbas,

After you replaced the battery, did you run a learn cycle again? If you go to the Recovery Guru and run a recheck what errors does it come back with?

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello me_vaha,

If you login to MDSM (Modular Disk storage Manager), you will go to the Monitordrop down & select view health. That will take you to the Recovery Guru where you should have the option to recheck your error, & this will make your MD do a check to see if the error is still valid or has been resolved.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Thank you for your reply,

I planed to run Recovery Guru this week end, please also I need the procedure to :

1- Run the learn cycle manually.

2- Setup the NTP of the storage (config time to sync with ntp server).

Please confirm if we can execute the above procedure it at any time without impact in the system.

thank you in advance for your assistance.

Hello me_vaha,

Here is a link to the Administrator Guide & if you look on page 56 it explains on how to check your battery settings. http://topics-cdn.dell.com/pdf/powervault-md3400_Administrator%20Guide_en-us.pdf When you are in the Recovery Guru & you hit the recheck it will start the learn cycle again. You can do the recheck at any time as it will not affect production.

You MD3820f uses SNMP & not NTP for the time.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello DELL-SAM,

I found in admin document, to configure the NTP server is by issuing the following command.

set controller[0] NTPServers=("0.pool.ntp.org" "1.us.pool.ntp.org");

I would like to know the command how to check the existing NTP server configuration in the controllers

Best Regards

Hello me_vaha,

There is not a command to see that the NTP has been configured. What you can do is to look at the Major Event Log, and in the log you will see an entry that NTP has been configured.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello DELL-SAM,

Thanks a lot for you response,

After hiting the recovery guru we didn’t get any option to recheck the warnings, we got the below message :

No failure was detected in the storage array

NB : the message was shown instantly after runing the recovery guru.

What do you suggest .

Hello me_vaha,

With the Recovery Guru showing that there is no failure detected on your MD 3820f, all is well with your MD. If you were still was having a failure then the recovery guru would show the error, & what steps that would be needed to resolve the failure.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello me_vaha,

That error happened on May 25th, have you had it happen again since then? If you have not had the error again then your MD3820f has done a learn cycle, & has found that your battery is good. If you were getting the error with a newer timestamp then we would need to look at a support bundle to see what the issue is.

Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Hello DELL-SAM

The Battery replaced at 16/06/2017 05:00 AM, and the lean cycle run it at 17/06/2017. And the same warning  happen  during the learn cycle.  It's that normal ? regarding to the documentation the warning message appeared during the learn cycle is considered normal, and can safely be ignored ?

Best Regards
