Precision 3600 - the file is possibly corrupt
So I bought this pc I start it up for the first time and get this error:
The file is possibly corrupt. the file header checksum does not match the computed checksum.
I tried the bios diagnostics tools but it couldn't find the hdd.
I used ubuntu live cd to check HDD and it was still healthy.
I put the HDD on a different pc got the same error.
Any suggestions what might be the problem?

F6 Drivers are Required at install or you must set the SATA Operation to ATA instead of AHCI. When in ATA mode if the drive is still not "seen" then its physically bad. Media Driver error indicates bad DVD or DVD burned at 16x or 8X instead of 4X or even 2X speed.
In XP you press F6 to load from floppy. In win 7 / 8 / 10 you browse for the AHCI sata driver.
Which one depends on which controller PERC or INTEL RST
1. Double-click the downloaded executable file xxxxx.exe. (Where xxxxx is the file name of the file).
2. The Self-Extractor window appears and prompts you to extract or unzip to C:\DELL\DRIVERS\JV4JN. If you did not print these instructions, write down this path.
3. The WinZip Self-Extractor window appears
4. Click OK.
5. If the Self-Extractor window is still open, close it.
6. Copy all the files in C:\DELL\DRIVERS\JV4JN to floppy (XP) or USB flash (Vista and above)
7. During Win OS installation, follow OS instruction to load driver.
The 3600 5600 7600 drivers download support page should be updated to include the information below.

The os is damaged. I have never seen startup repair work.
You will have to reinstall windows from scratch.

The pc didn't come with a repair / recovery cd.
and because this was the first time using the pc I wasn't able to create a recovery cd?

Assuming it's Win 10, you can download the ISO and tools to create a bootable USB stick for free from Microsoft here:

So I tried to reinstall win 7 using a windows disk I already had but during the reinstallation the install disk couldn't see the hdd.

I which I had seen the post above earlier but I ended up just cloning the hard drive of a Precision T3600 of a friend. And than installing cloned hdd on my dell 3600. It worked but now I share a Windows OS license.
